the whole experiment sounds like his graduate class. kipnis is singing to his own chorus.
i like some of the tabs like chasing the rendering etc..
but overall there is a economic and political disconnect that makes this experiment close circuit network.
i am glad i have watched it. now i know the most interesting part of this project is the site plan and the buzz.
one of the architects said they have tried to produce work and living conditions with minimal means. i can't believe someone can say that with a straight face after landing with a billion sq. ft. home on the mongolian steppes.
what the hell? why not a morning bar? why regress in text while going 'ho' on the boards, sort of like timid porn apology?
it was the first project he picked to show by a balkan architect (w/ prescription glass exchange.;.) with possibilities of shrinking in size, blanketed by desert, almost like an insurgent reverse of visibility, at least to the corner of my eye. i thought the rest of them would have really hard time as concepts to work in a lesser sq. ft. tabulation. but that aspect would make them as good responses to client's requirements and keep them anthological for 'leaders of the industry' .;.))
there is also another address situation i paid attention on the web site. there were noticeable amount of offices from cambridge, mass among the n. american designers.
i don't know what to make out of it?
architecture is such a white flight these days... well to do in-search-of safe enclaves. that's right... a bit of this in it.
or is it my imagination?
i need to stay away from making generalizations. but kipnis was much more ironic.
as of march 09, not a single ordos 100 house had begun construction, nor were there any indications of site prep. the rest of ordos city seems to be coming together.
