she does not have any arab accent..
yes she does. very slight guttural level.
wh;y do so many buildings look like the raygun from the original war of the worlds?
ooh, she's returning to her privileged iraqi expat roots! exciting!!!
Check out her (two?) rings on her right hand.
They're rad. Me wantsy.
i don't think she has ever left her roots. how can you?
also, why do we criticize her for having privilege to go to AA and become an architect as an arab female? a great one (even some say she ain't)
so what? most of architecture schools in the west are full of privileged brats. sure, arab world has them too.
i remember her lecturing in los angeles in 1981 or something, and vehemently speaking up for her arab engineer associate. somebody had to nerve to say how could an engineer from arab world could calculate the structure of her hong kong peak project... of course this guy couldn't remember algebra is an arabic invention, which made the modern calculations possible.
why do we have this suspicious and sometimes belittling attitude toward people from middle east who are really good at what they do?
i know she very positively influences a lot of arab youth of female gender with her outspokenness and talent.
and, holz, i am not saying these things or asking these questions to you, but your post has just triggered these comments. i know you better than that through these boards. no offense to you.
i would criticize her for some of her buildings, but not for her fortunate background. we don't really know what difficulties she has to overcome in her everyday life.
Her office is building some incredible things right now. I think they do some of the best built work in the world.

"Architectural Concept and Site Strategy:
The design of the proposal comes from the idea of using a Voronoi pattern to organize the program plan on the site. The Voronoi’s subdivisions, or cells, like biological cells within a tissue, are independent, yet act together in a larger system. We tested several Voronoi patterns on the site in order to derive a subdivision that fulfilled the requirements for the program, floor plate area, floor plate depth and distance between buildings."

Please research the condition of human rights in Kazakhstan. But yes, we architects have little to do with it. Who can turn down a nice commision from a oil funded dictatorship if it keeps me in my London life style?
Don't forget, we tested several Voronoi patterns on the site!
Flame on, and tell me how important it is that we build "green".
this really cool voronoi pattern here will be the janitors closet. this awesome voronoi pattern result here will house the bathrooms, this voronoi pattern here? thats where the servers go. yes, it is the most important room.
Entrance lobby and sales offices of voronoi apartments on colonel voronoi avenue...
is that over in voronoi height? i hear there's a good indian restaurant over there. their voronoi vindaloo is a world rocker.
VORONOI IS PEOPLLLE !!!
i enjoy her built work so much more than her persona, her theory, her art, her renderings, her thoughts (her=her office)...and that's what architecture is about right?!
she just got a bonus of 150 thousand voronois!
