Many complain about the rash of museums trying for the "Bilbao Effect" when they decide to renovate or expand. In this article James Russell of Bloomberg News encourages boards to stop selecting Renzo Piano. His buildings are graceful and showcase the art. However, if you add up all his projects, he has done more civic (especially art museum) buildings than any other staritect in the last decade.

So he's really, really good at designing museums... what's the problem? Not enough swoopy/blobby/fractured facades an unusable space?
