we had a noguchi exhibit here in seattle a few years ago that was phenomenal. the more impressive rooms were really difficult to photograph.the exhibit was designed by robert wilson.
This was a great exhibition. There was a little bit of everything. Interviews with the architects and designers that got their start in his office, hilarious letters to his second wife Alpine comparing her qualities to the women X, Y, and Z, cartoons of the office culture, great computer renderings/models/movies from an MIT design seminar on Saarinen's works, etc... The Finnish exhibition did a great job of identifying Eero's work and contributions [which is good because it seems to me that much of he and his father's copllaborations define the Michigander understanding of Saarinen architecture] to architecture and design. I did want to see more about his Michigan connections, though, as they were relatively ephemerial. Had a nice little convo with the folks at DWR-Birmingham afterwards too.
Also, it's a Buckminster Fuller/Noguchi exhibition. Which I didn't get down to see yet. Maybe next weekend when I hit the DIA.

Ugh, I'm just sick that I can't go to this.
Please report, anyone who attends!
I'm going to try to get to this, this weekend.
It's great, we've got this exhibition at Cranbrook, the Saarinen/Noguchi exhibit at Henry Ford and the new DIA opens next weekend!
