Ok, not really, but the first serious climate change bill is being sponsored by Al's running mate and Sen John Warner (R-VA).
Even with all the compromises and pork barrel items that are hidden in the 214 pages of the legislation to get this bill passed by both houses, please lobby your representatives to support S-2191 so the polar bears have a future.
Hartford Courant
The stated purposes of America’s Climate Security Act (ACSA) are: “(1) to establish the core of a federal program that will reduce United States greenhouse gas emissions substantially enough between 2007 and 2050 to avert the catastrophic impacts of global climate change; and (2) to accomplish that purpose while preserving robust growth in the United States economy and avoiding the imposition of hardship on United States citizens.”
ACSA caps emissions of the six primary greenhouse gases: CO2, methane, nitrous oxide, sulfur hexafluoride, hydrofluorocarbons, and perfluorocarbons. (the climate change skeptics are probably wondering why water vapor isn't included in this list....
oh, the bill creates the 'Climate Change Credit Corporation' with a board of directors appointed by the pres. Ed Mazria needs to be nominated for that board!

i have a hard time swallowing any climate legislation proposed by lieberman.
2050 will be too late.
we need a legitimate green party, damnit. and while were at it, some christian democrats, some socialists, some effing libertarians.
I concur, but any bit of law is better then no law. too little, too late is better then the nihilistic status quo.
