A debate is raging in the American fashion industry over knockoff designs. Copying, which has always existed in fashion, has become so pervasive in the Internet era it is now the No. 1 priority of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, which is lobbying Congress to extend copyright protection to clothing. Does this play for architecture? NYT

Nobody has a "right to look fabulous" if that means steraling someone else's design and producing it for much less. What bullshit.
I would love to see this lawsuit result in a new attitude toward fashion, not than there is any "one look" people need to wear, but that we all can wear designs by individuals who are respected for their talent. Of course I don't think that will happen, in fashion any more than in architecture.
if it does happen, i will quickly design some blue jeans pants, a black tie, a white shirt, a black shirt, and a black suit, and get them copyrighted...i will be rich!
