"Scientists hail ‘frozen smoke’ as material that will change world"
A miracle material for the 21st century could protect your home against bomb blasts, mop up oil spillages and even help man to fly to Mars.
Aerogel, one of the world’s lightest solids, can withstand a direct blast of 1kg of dynamite and protect against heat from a blowtorch at more than 1,300C." | UK Times Online

I think Kalwall also offer s a nanogel product.
I'm not saying this isn't an amazing and revolutionary product, but I'm pretty sure my former boss told me about seeing Aerogel on TV in 1994.
I wonder how long it takes for the product to be developed then come to market then actually bring about revolutionary change? Like fiber optics, how long from their introduction to everything they are used in now?
yeah i found out about this product about 2 years ago -- mostly because of its insulating properties ... i was amazed however, to see how versatile a material it actually is. I mean, spacesuits? Who knew?
Also, a friend of mine in undergrad swore that he would find a way to freeze smoke.
