he's well known among archi-geeks, but maybe the threshold to starchitect-dom is crossing over to being known by museum directors and university administrators.
@ Steven Ward
I think there is a clear difference between being known by arch-geeks and the general or at least academic, knowledge worker, public
That is perhaps what makes a starchitect
my sense is that he's a bit of a media darling across the pond but clearly hasn't cracked america yet. only a matter of time though since he clearly has the talent and the ambition.
interesting footnote, despite responding to the grosse pointe central library RFQ, his firm didn't even make it through the first cut. an absolute shame in my opinion because i would have loved to see him present a proposal to the library board...and i think he could have done a very nice design too.

now that we have different definitions for 'starchitect' what is exactly an 'archi-geek'?
is it a term exclusively for the computer age, 21st ct-architecture lovers? or was Corbu an 'archi-geek' too?

5 years ago not many uk architects had built in the US whats your point?
regarding 'archi-geeks' most of us need look no further than the mirror for a definition.
