Perhaps to palliate our worst Kafka-esque architectural nightmares, the city invited three renowned architecture firms, WXY Architecture + Urban Design, Skidmore Owings & Merrill (SOM), and Foster + Partners, to imagine “the next 100 years” of Grand Central Station (which is fast approaching its 100th birthday) and the surrounding Midtown cityscape. — blogs.artinfo.com

". . . all sheathed in the timelessness of Beaux Arts symmetry " (the Grand Central that was, that is . . .)
So, would it have killed our latter-day interventionists to have respected and reflected that symmetry, with a couple of matching towers to support their donut-in-the-sky ? Or would that be too prosaic -- or not sufficiently reflective of the realities of bifurcated ownership, or solar orientation, or -- something . . . ?
Oh brother, somebody needs to send this to Kunstler.
