Will Alsop will give a talk on January 10 at the Braithwaite Hall, Katharine Street, Croydon to discuss the future development of Croydon town centre...
The talk will be webcast at www.croydon.gov.uk
The talk will illustrate the architect’s personal approach to design as well as “discovering what Croydon has to offer, changing people’s perception of where they live and getting them excited about imagining where Croydon will be in the next 10-15 years.”
The London Plan identifies Croydon Metropolitan Centre as a prime Opportunity Area capable of accommodating thousands of new homes as well as providing a major development and employment opportunity.
In response, the council is preparing an Area Action Plan (AAP), which will provide a framework of how to accommodate the changes and deliver a high quality mixed use development.
SMC Alsop were appointed by the council together with consultants Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design for their specialist skills in urban design.
Tibbalds will advise on delivering planning gain agreements to further improve public spaces in the town centre and help write and illustrate the draft plan.
