A brief round-up of today's reportage on the opening of Chicago's Millennium Park:
The Chicago Tribune's Blair Kamin weighs in with his critique.
Beth Botts, also of the Tribune, reports on Dutch landscape architect Piet Oudolf's contribution to the design for the three-acre Lurie Garden.
The NYTimes' Fred Bernstein reports (w/ slideshow).
And finally, a report from the Tribune on the litigation arising from the construction of the Frank Gehry-designed Jay Pritzker music pavilion.
For a full sampling of the Chicago Tribune's coverage (including some twelve mini-reviews by Kamin of individual park elements), start here. There's also a Chicago Tribune Millennium Park Main Page.

speaking from the other side with regard to the legal action taken:
1. the walsh boys are the biggest daley supporters [financially] in town. good south side irish boys. this will settle out of court quickly to avoid additional embarisment for da mayor. da mayor will give them another project.
2. the walsh boys insisted upon changing the prefab panel detail to one that had 0 tolerance to the one detailed by the gehry team. the result: when the panel came to the site they didnt fit, had to be taken off the building and a great deal of steel bits re-worked to accomodate the walsh detail.[if you remember it appeared the construction ground to a complete hault to resolve the detailing].
