in Edirne, a masterpiece built between 1568 -1575 by the great Ottoman chief architect Sinan--considered the finest example of Turkish architecture. TDN
;). just last year they eliminated all the zeros from the turkish lira (it was pretty much out of control with 1,750000 lira = $ 1, no kidding) but i will look to find one for you john. i am sure i'll find one in turkey when i go there next fall. i think there are some other ones newly minted with new values.
an anecdote;
bruno taut, who spend last years of his life in turkey as an active architect, died and buried in edirne based on his will to be near selimiye mosque.

bruno taut came to istanbul in 1936 and whired by the government to design mainly school and other institutional buildings. he was a professor at istanbul technical university where he worked on the cirruculum whic they still use today in essence. his work in turkey was far from his radical work in bauhaus due to the agendas of rather totalitarian lines of the young republic on its second decade.his major buildings in ankara are ;
overall authoritarian republic architecture scene looked more like italian fascist architecture and dictated the work of architects.
there were also the young turks producing modern works seyfi arkan (pdf).
i might be wrong on actual location of his burial. actually it is in istanbul's edirnekapi cemetery which translates gate to edirne usually a cty gate, departure point to destination city, in this case edirne.
