well since the energy crisis '73 that jump started the development and usage of insulation on buildings helped cut energy over 30% and obviously aswell energy loss. that was europe, I think the states definatively can gain some ground by adopting more energy efficient and therefore sustainable building codes. the low-energy-house is quasi-standard in every new building in swizterland. think about that...
