Congress or Parliament should stop this acquisition. Its the same with Adobe aquiring marcomedia, your limiting competition and choices in software. I rather would have seen a merger between revit, alias, and macromedia.
Adesk aready owns Revit. So in a way it was a merger of 2 you mentioned. This makes sence as the buz has been they were going to do away with Max/Viz and its 6+ year old render engine and release a new product. I dokn't think congress will intervene there is a larger spectrum of competition than in adobes case. You still have lightwave, form Z, Softimage, Modo, Rhino etc.
The position isn't whether revit is already purchased or not― it’s the way these smaller companies should bond together (in strategic alliances) before being consumed by the big fish. Autodesk and Adobe are slowly turning into monopolies and it does help (innovation, pricing, etc) if substantial competitors are consumed...

they'll now own max and maya. i wonder if this will lead to anything between the two.
