The West Side Stadium was rejected by the NY State board today, killing public funding and putting the future of the project over the rail yards in great doubt. NYTimes | msnbc
Thank Goodness, I hope it's truly dead. They were giving this away, what with taxpayer money planned to help foot the bill, and our pal Bloomberg was trying to cram it down all our throats.
We don't want the olympics in NYC, we already have stadiums, we need housing.
Myself and every New Yorker I've spoken to agrees.
Not to mention how incredibly ridiculous the design was anyway...
the olympics is always a good idea, if taken proper advantage of. Housing should be (and would have been in the case of NYC) part of the deal. The olympics and events like it can be great for cities. Why not NYC, bill?
NYC is not an up and coming city, it is not a city that needs to be "put on the map". It is not a city that needs anymore tourism than it already gets. And there have been too many shady promises between the mayor and his millionaire cronies. Sorry, we don't need it and we don't want it.

Olympic Panel Praises Paris; New York Bid Is Reeling

NO Olympics for NYC!
...a shame! it could have been wonderful to see the city come together for something other than tragedy.
