Interesting, first, that the date on the article is 30 May 2005 - next week. Is this pre-publication?
Interesting proposal, also, and I think a very bold and intelligent response to the disaster that the Ground Zero site has become. Isn't this in line with Denise Scott Brown's thinking about the site in her article - can't remember the name - that came out shortly afer 9/11?

pretty nice. what better way to remember those that died than by injecting actual LIFE (rather than commerce -- isn't that how we got in this prediciment in the first place) into the place. let people life learn and grow with the site as it fades in our memory. how about also including a designated floor (at least) of hotel suites for the families of victims who are visiting the memorial.

I agree the freedom tower should be low income housing or at least mixed income housing. what spells freedom more than your own HOME?

a week ago i suggested building the towers twice as high and filling the additional height with apartments @ half the prevailing median rent.
don't knock commerce. without it communities don't exist, at least free communities.
define 'free communities'?
