For this year's International Women’s Day on March 8, NPR is airing a special one-hour documentary produced with help from the Beverly Willis Architecture Foundation (BWAF). The piece aims to shed light on the overlooked contributions of women in architecture to an American mass audience for the first time.
Narrated by the great Oscar-winning actor and producer Frances McDormand, ‘Buildings Speak: Stories of Pioneering Women Architects’ is a collaboration with producers The Kitchen Sisters. The special draws three of the figures (Julia Morgan, Amaza Lee Meredith, and Natalie de Blois) featured in the BWAF’s unmissable New Angle: Voice podcast series, the third season of which also premiers on International Women’s Day with a special focus on the architecture of the 1970s.
Tizziana Baldenebro, the new executive director of the BWAF, commented: “They are trailblazers, groundbreakers, skyscraper visionaries — women who changed the skyline and the built environment that surrounds us today. It’s an hour of striking, surprising stories of design, vision and love.”
“We are so excited to hear Buildings Speak in so many markets to celebrate International Women’s Day,” Brandi Howell, one of the producers of New Angle: Voice, stated. “This timely new special is sound-rich, deeply layered, full of compelling voices, and archival audio and music. Buildings Speak adds spark and spirit to airwaves during this time of relentless news. We think listeners will be drawn in by it, both women and men.”
The special airs this Friday, March 8th, on NPR affiliate stations in Asheville, N.C. (WCQS) and Georgia (Georgia Public Broadcasting). It will premiere on Sunday, March 10th, in Albuquerque (KUNM) and in New York (WNYC). Future airings for Seattle (KUOW) and Chicago (WXAV) are expected to follow soon.

I don't get the word "so many markets" in that sentence. Are we looking IWD as a marketing effort? With barbies and all?
I think they mean public radio markets. Like, you'll hear it in San Diego, and also in Colorado Springs, and also in Philly.
Should i write a blog on this whole freaking barbie phenom or should i just keep my feminist mouth shut?
Do it.

They could have been telling you to keep your mouth shut too haha. But yes, write a blog :)
I suggest you write the blog.
I am one of the 2% minority architects in America, AIA and NCARB member. Male, but have great respect for the women in architecture, here in Maryland. Awesome piece,
Phil
