UPDATE: 2020 AIA Conference on Architecture has been postponed
On Thursday, March 12th, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti issued a directive to City departments outlining new measures to be taken to limit the spread of COVID-19. With the 2020 AIA Conference on Architecture scheduled to begin this May in Los Angeles, many are wondering what the status of the event will be.
Included in Garcetti's list of additional measures are these two:
The Los Angeles Convention Center will be the venue to hold the AIA Conference and as a "city-owned property," it falls under the Mayor's outlined criteria. Yet, the AIA on March 12th, the same day as Garcetti's address, said it "is seriously considering the status of the AIA Conference on Architecture 2020, scheduled for May 14–16 in Los Angeles. In this rapidly worsening situation, we will update everyone on cancellation or postponement as soon as possible."
With a slew of other events following city and state recommendations to mitigate the spread of the virus, what will the AIA do?
Once we get an answer from the AIA we'll keep everyone updated here.

[thumbs] ... related: why is there such a delay with the website showing new posts and comments in the horizontal scrolling "JUST POSTED IN THE NEWS" on the forum page? My comment above was made 5 minutes after it was posted and it wasn't showing up there. It's been almost 20 minutes and this post isn't showing up there.

Bummer.
mine was also cancelled yesterday. gotta find another way to get those sweet cont-ed hours. cycle ends this june.
Listen to me bitch and rail about clients and contractors for an hour; then I'll do the same for you. We'll sign each other's paperwork, self-report, and voila! (in French for you)
btw, how is the little one doing?
little one is recovering well but is still exhausted. Breathing appears to be back to normal and no fever for last 24hr. Thanks for checking. The ER staff at the children hospital did a good job at weeding out the corona paranoid crowd so they can focus on real patients.
I grant an 1hr of int-exp to those who want to hear me rant about clients, colleague's drafting habits, and gov client.
Good news! Maybe keep distance while describing clients and incompetent others... all that profanity could be distressing :o\
