According to Architect's Journal (AJ), a Watford man has received seven convictions after falsely describing himself as an architect on LinkedIn and with Companies House, the Uk's registrar of companies. Sohail Chohan, the convicted man, who pleaded guilty, told AJ that his son set up his LinkedIn profile and website and that he had never seen them before.
Ultimately, Chohan was given leeway by the judge due to his early guilty and financial situation, reports AJ. "They understood I was an idiot and were as lenient as they could be," Chohan said to AJ.

Great quote: "They understood I was an idiot and were as lenient as they could be."
It's refreshing to see someone not fall into the "sorry, not sorry" groove.
It's terrible of me, I know, but when these types of stories pop up, I can't help but think of Rick in this context. Would he ever plead guilty, say "I was an idiot," and ask for leniency ... or would he double down, claim innocence, and mount his own defense copy/pasting legal statutes and practice laws into getting the book thrown at him?
It's all very Trumpian, this new way of avoiding responsibility .
Yes, this never happened before Trumpopia!
You consistently miss the forest for the trees, man.
It was a hypothetical scenario Rick where instead of being Rick Balkins living in Astoria, you would be Sohail Chohan living in Watford ... but all your mannerisms would be the same as they are currently. I don't even know why I'm explaining this. Your response alone was enough to confirm my suspicions. Thanks for playing.
E_A, I pretty much had the same thoughts as you when I first read the story.
There is one pretty big flag on this though. All companies in the UK must register with Companies House, right across the board. Sounds like Chohan did this representing it as an official architectural practice - no idea why it would have been accepted given even the most minimal of oversite should have sent red flags everywhere, but it points to a knowing attempt at deception (rather than a simple misuse of the term).
