The Architects Foundation, a philanthropic partner of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), has announced that it is now accepting applications for five scholarship programs targeted toward students pursuing architectural degrees.
The five scholarships aim to bring a variety of funding opportunities for architecture students and include two diversity-focused initiatives.
The Diversity Advancement Scholarship, for example, offers up to $20,000 for "high school and undergraduate minority students who are entering, enrolled in, or transferring into an undergraduate architecture program recognized by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB)," according to an AIA website.
The Payette Sho-Ping Chin Memorial Academic Scholarship, on the other hand, awards $10,000 "toward tuition and fees supporting a woman studying architecture within a NAAB-accredited bachelor or master’s degree program." The scholarship winner will also receive mentorship from a senior member of the Payette staff. Payette was awarded the AIA Firm of the Year award for 2019 last year.
The Yann Weymouth Graduate Scholarship will support "a graduate student whose work demonstrates an exemplary focus at the design intersection of sustainability, resilience, wellness and beauty" via a $5,000 tuition credit. The awardee will also benefit from a year-long mentorship opportunity involving Yann Weymouth, AIA.
The a/e ProNet David W. Lakamp Scholarship will award two students "who demonstrate a strong interest in practice and risk management in the field of architecture" $5,000 each.
And lastly, the Architects Foundation / McAslan Fellowship will offer $7,500 and travel support for two students to work on a homelessness initiative in Scotland with UK-based firm John McAslan+ Partners.
Applications for these scholarship programs are available through the Architects Foundation website and are open through January 17, 2020.
