awesome/crazy
Cartoon architecture as a marketing device.
I agree with you, davvid. love this. FOG just keeps trying new things and I love it. Crazy cool.
I am often conflicted with projects like this. While I celebrate the expression of new creative forms, I also wince at the expenditure of resources (spatial, financial, human, and material) required to bring this to fruition.
Frank is laughing all the way to the bank.
It kind of evokes one of the Dresden churches a few days after the Allied fire-bombing raids in WW II.
I thought 'pushing the envelope' was a figure of speech.
Looks like a castle. . . FOG is very contextual
It's ok to spend a ton of money on a showy piece of architecture, but being so public, one has to ask if it adds to the public realm. In other words, how well will it age, not just in terms of maintenance but as an icon, which this was obviously designed to be. Reminds me of the skit where the architect crumples a piece of paper and calls it a composition. Que the glass walls and sharp angles.
Oh no! What if it doesn't become an icon in the future? How will we live?
It'll be an icon alright. One of many.
