The limestone clad mansion in Bel Air owned by the late TV executive Jerry Perenchio just got a price cut.
But at $245 million, the commanding French neoclassical residence, which measures 25,000 square feet, is still the most expensive listing on the open market in the U.S.
The property, which came up for sale last year for a staggering $350 million, has long been the cream of the crop among high-end estates.

If you happen to have won the $1.6 billion lottery jackpot last week or simply don't know where to stash away all those extra tax-cut savings, here's a sweet dealio for you: the spacious 'Chartwell' Bel Air mansion at 875 Nimes Road was built in 1933 and also appeared in the 1960s TV show The Beverly Hillbillies.
"Features include a Wallace Neff designed 5-bedroom guest house, 75-foot pool with spacious pool house, tennis court, car gallery for 40 vehicles, 12,000 bottle wine cellar and precisely manicured gardens befitting a chateau in France," reads the property description.
Oh, and it's a total steal, too: after being listed for an eye-watering $350 million last year, the asking price has since dropped significantly to a bargain $245 million. Plenty of spare cash left to fill that 40-vehicle car gallery.

Interesting to see that TV house after all these years. Plus, a (lazy) political swipe. Toss in a Kardashian reference, and you're done for the day!
it's only a 20 mile/40 minute car ride from this house to where the kardashians and jenners live in calabasas and hidden hills.
Are the appliances and drapes included?
ROFLMAO
The fridge will cost you an extra $700. That tears it for a lot of people.
At least I hope they leave some of the gardening tools. I was super happy to have my house' previous owners do that.
Teardown.
speaking of taste, or lack of it.....
I watched the video. It's a BEAUTIFUL estate. I would love to know more about the interior. Bedrooms, bathrooms, theatre, bowling alley, gym, art gallery, game room, banquet hall... I know it says 11 bdrms, but are they including the guest home's bedroom count? If all of the aforementioned are included, including 8+ bedrooms in the main residence it's definitely worth 245 million dollars.
"it's definitely worth 245 million dollars".
No it's not.
On over 10 acres and what I mentioned, IT IS DEFINITELY WORTH IT!!! ESPECIALLY when my children move in. #HEAVEN
it's horrible, and dated.
From what I saw on the video, only the exterior and grounds were shown. I can't agree with your observation/description "dated/horrible". What I witnessed was elegance and serenity.
You sound like a realtor.
LMBO!!! I'm not, but thank you. I used to desire to be in the real estate business though :)
let's agree to disagree; the only thing valuable in that sale is the grounds and the moore sculpture - you never wondered why they are not showing the inside? it's probably because it's shit and you would have to spend 40-50 million bringing the mammoth back to life.
If I had the money, I would buy it and turn it into a public park, giving the structures a different use. Nobody should live in places like that in 2019.
It was strange the interior wasn't shown. I don't think it's sh*t. It's probably not updated. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your idea about turning it into a park, but I would hate the landscaping to be ruined; so I think renting it out for weddings and grand occasions would be better. I must disagree with you on no one should live in places like that in these present days. A big family that gets along will definitely appreciate it.
The landscape is shit. The whole thing is absolutely unnecessary.
I'm am extremely shocked you'd say that about the landscaping. IT'S BREATHTAKING!!!!! I'd love to stroll through the gardens and breathe in the fresh air. Especially at dawn when the mist is present.
well, if you have the 245mil to waste, you can do it. For the rest of the world, it's just a total waste of space.
hey rdoubleu, breath a little, your socks are falling.
Maybe Bezos ex will buy it.
Marked down from $350m.
I hear the schools are good, but that access to transit is not.
