Book launch: Jane Rendell – ‘The Architecture of Psychoanalysis: Spaces of Transition’ | 4 May

This Thursday, join Jane Rendell at the Bartlett for the book launch of her book ‘The Architecture of Psychoanalysis: Spaces of Transition’, which explores how architectural space registers in psychoanalysis and investigates "both the inherently spatial vocabulary of psychoanalysis and ideas around the physical 'setting' of the psychoanalytic encounter". This launch will feature a discussion between Rendell, writer Anna Minton, geographer Steve Pile and architect Lorens Holm. 

Studio Mumbai / BIJOY JAIN PENUMBRA | Opening 5 May

Studio Mumbai's founder Bijoy Jain presents his first solo UK exhibition, which explores temporality in landscape and our experiences of both natural and cultural environments. This exhibition will be opening on Friday with a drinks reception, ahead of opening to the public from Saturday.

NYLON #11 Deputy Mayor Dialogue: Grappling with Growth - London | 9 May

Joining together city experts from New York and London, this talk will tackle Sadiq Khan's 'City for All Londoners', and the dramatic and rapid change to the city that London has witnessed in recent years. Discussing regeneration and (existing) community connections, this panel is formed of Alicia Glen and Jules Pipe, Deputy Mayors for housing in London and regeneration in New York (respectively).

Architecture on Film: Having A Cigarette with Álvaro Siza | 9 May

This back-to-back double bill of films explores the work of Álvaro Siza and Eduardo Souto de Moura; two Portuguese, Pritzker Prize winning architects. The films allow the architects to reflect upon their philosophies and careers. Writer, curator, and fellow Portuguese architect, André Tavares, will give an introduction before the screenings. 

Saturday morning architecture schools: London before the Great Fire | 13 May

Kicking of the first of a series of 'Saturday Morning Architecture School' is this talk on London before the Great Fire of 1666. Alex Forshaw, historian, town planner and conservationist, will showcase the buildings which survived both the fire and the demolition balls of the 18th and 19th Centuries, as well as exploring how these events have shaped the capital.
