The clocks have gone back, we’ve had Halloween, it is well and truly ‘coat weather’, and Bonfire Night is coming fast; it’s time to start enjoying winter traditions! This week, go for a first skate in the middle of Canary Wharf on a glowing rink, or watch fireworks over some of the most iconic buildings in the world.
This week also sees a lot of exhibitions coming to a close, including Antony Gormley’s Fit and Ove Arup’s Engineering the World , so make sure you don’t miss out on the final days!

Ice Skating at Canary Wharf | 4 November - 25 February

Kicking off the winter skating season is Carnary Wharf’s ‘Luminocity’. This ice rink will be illuminated from below with more than eight kilometres of LED lighting beneath the ice. The immersive and enchanting experience is all the better for being set within Canary Wharf, which is beautiful at night with its lights and refractions.

Tate Modern has teamed up with TENT, a Rotterdam based contemporary gallery, in order to create collective, challenging art. Over 5 days, four artists and eight young people will work together to exchange concepts and themes. On its final day, the work created will be showcased in a series of discussions, audio, and visual pieces.
Modernism and Model Dwellings: Housing in Bethnal Green | 5 November

Bethnal Green in East London, has a rich history and many fantastic examples of the Victorian 'philanthropic housing movement'. This tour by Footprints of London, will explore the politics behind the architecture, and the changing ideas surrounding social housing and city living.
Bonfire Night - Firework Displays | 4-6 November

Bonfire night is a celebration so deeply ingrained in our society that, for many Brits, it is a marker of the season. London is quite possibly the best place to celebrate this day, being both the birthplace of the Gunpowder Plot, and home to many award winning firework displays. Wrap up warm, and go enjoy one near you!

At the heart of the Building Centre and NLA Galleries is the The Pipers Central London model; a 1:1500 depiction of our city. Showing major development and proposals in with the existing lets the public have a real overview of how London looks, and how it will continue to change. This 12 meter model will be introduced with a small drop-in talk, giving first time viewers a chance to ogle, and to ask questions.
