With the London Design Festival raging on and the anticipation of a new season hanging thick in the air, it seems as though London has started afresh, seemingly recovering from the events of this summer. Walking around the city, and at events, it is hard to not feel that same energy buzzing all around.

Turner Prize 2016 | 27 September - 2 January 2017

The Turner Prize, founded in 1984, is a celebration of artists under 50 years old who have created “an outstanding exhibition or other presentation of their work in the twelve months preceding”. Past winners have included Grayson Perry, Antony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Richard Long, and Assemble.
This year’s panel comprises of esteemed directors and curators including Michelle Cotton, Tasmin Dillon, Beatrix Ruf, Simon Wallis, and is chaired by Alex Farquharson, Director of Tate Britain.
How Great Buildings of the Past Inspire Architecture of the Future | 27 September

In celebration of the Twentieth Century Society’s book 50 Architects 50 Buildings this evening event, hosted by the RIBA, will see a discussion between four of the country’s leading architects Niall McLaughlin, Peter Barber, Sarah Featherstone and Cany Ash. Considering and delving into the buildings which have most inspired and impacted their work, the panel will explore how buildings of the past influence those of the future.
Asif Khan - 100% Design | 21 September

Opening this year’s 100% Design is architect Asif Khan talking of recent and upcoming projects. Many readers may have visited his striking and experiential ‘Summer House’ as part of the Serpentine Pavillion 2016, and many more will have seen the photogenic structure plastered over social media. This innovative designer will be kicking off the program of speakers throughout 100% Design.
Dyslexic Design | 22-25 September

During the ongoing London Design Festival, this exhibition aims to celebrate the positive impact of dyslexia on design, skewing the norm of focusing on the drawbacks. Featuring work from many different dyslexic designers, this showcase will include fashion, architecture, fine art and illustration pieces. Its aim is to explore and communicate the intricacies of creative thought from the approach of a dyslexic mind.
Fix Our City | 19-23 September

The program for ‘Fix Our City’ is varied and vast ranging from free design workshops and bicycle surgeries, to tours of the Makers Mile. The project looks at the role of the public in the creation and transformation of city life. Subjects addressed through this project include sustainability, circular economy, and open design; workshop participants will (either consciously or otherwise) battle with these concepts, in the hope of ‘Fixing our City’.
