Data is linked to urban living and design more than many of us may realize. Going beyond numbers, this discussion at the Center for Architecture will highlight the “big data revolution”, exploring its influences on current and future urban infrastructures. Speakers will share their thoughts on questions like: “How do we access data, how can we use it, and how can we represent it in order to inform clients and agencies to make better design decisions and engage policy discussions?”
Hip Hop and Comics with Ed Piskor | August 4, recommended by Amelia Taylor-Hochberg
Frame from "Hip Hop Family Tree"
Comic book nerd-dom lovingly obsessing over hip-hop. If any of that appeals, check out Ed Piskor's "Hip Hop Family Tree", depicting the birth of hip-hop culture with a helluvalot of research and even more fanboy affection. Piskor's event comes alongside the Museum of the City of New York's exhibition, Roz Chast: Cartoon Memoirs.
Uptown Bounce: Summer Nights @ 104th and Fifth | Happening now until August 17, recommended by Alexander Walter
New Yorkers, it's summer block party time! And the Museum of the City of New York and El Museo del Barrio happen to join forces again to bring you una fiesta grande on four consecutive Wednesday evenings. Expect summer drinks, local food, DJs, music, dancing, dance lessons, gallery talks, tours, workshops (did we mention summer drinks?).
Also keep track of our weekly event picks for Los Angeles and London.
