“Trump ... believes in using expensive materials that convey prestige and wealth, and people buy into that,” said Jerold Kayden, professor of urban planning and design at Harvard University. He said in some ways the legacy of Trump buildings is a matter of taste. “To some they are the height of ambition and the height of prestige and to others they are gaudy, but he has certainly pioneered with some others architecture as brand.” — marketplace.org
"Other New Yorkers view Trump’s investment in luxury buildings in undervalued locations in the '90s as a contribution to New York’s renewal. To them, his construction represented investment at a time when New York was struggling with blight."

I refuse to be interested in any architecture analysis of Trump buildings... Its like analyzing a gaudy McMansion. We all know the kind of person that likes it.
LiMX, Trump's tower in Chicago is the most beautiful skyscraper in the city. It's also in the most ideal location. Relative to other skyscrapers, its formal design is hardly superfluous or egotistical. It was originally meant to be 300-400 feet taller to make it the tallest building in the country - this was in 2005 and the Mayor declined it because our nation was still dealing with the aftermath of 9/11.
True, Trump Tower in Chicago is one of the better ones. Think an analysis of Trumps architecture is meaningless because its just a Brand name slapped on generic condos, most of which represent 80s lux taste
Trump Tower in Chicago is a good building.
The river-front retail is poorly designed and under-used, but I suspect that was developer and not architect driven.
if trump ever moves into the white house (god help us all), the interior designer better have the midas touch:
looks more like louis XIV than a people's democracy.
We are Fucked.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Tasteless.
Maybe in Trump's defense, his father made his bones doing very crappy public housing, probably warped his taste towards the crass-luxury taste.
