He has a vision of a future where his company makes a third of the world's buildings – all modular, all steel, and all green.
“The biggest problem we face in the world right now isn't terrorism or world war. It's climate change,” he says.

A fascinating profile of Zhang Yue, the man behind Mini Sky City, a 57-story tower built in 19 days. Yue's company, the Broad Sustainable Group, was able to construct at such speeds by assembling prefab parts at the rate of 3-storeys a day. Now, Yue's set his sights on on building the full-size Sky City – a 220-story tower where residents would live and work – in seven months. That height would make it taller than Dubai's Burj Khalifa, currently the world's tallest building.

I don't know why, but these articles continue to piss me off... Did he just happen to have all of these pieces sitting around in a huge warehouse? Of course not... How long was the design and engineering of the building? How long to build the pieces? What was the cost compared to a comparable site built structure? What was the safety record? Faster isnt necessarily better and this is structure was not built in 19 days. Only real benefit I see is limited exposure to the elements prior to dry in and possibly quality control of module construction in manufacturing environment.
"all steel, and all green?" That's a contradiction. Unless the steel industry can significantly lower its production emissions...
Given how uniform the building is there would seem to be opportunity for significant time reductions producing it this way. One big advantage would be impact to site, both in staging and in time occupied. I would not be inclined to build something like this though...
You know in my experience we don't focus so much on "how fast it built up and how green it is", this kind of topic just getting away from what the architecture's use. You know when human being this world, we just need a box with a bed to have a quite time for rest, as increasing of our needs, we need a box to have a place to work and have a box to do anything, what initial to do is to make this box more safe and healthy, more confortable and then more environmental, after we solve these kinds of problems, we are heading to make it more artistical. As one of the Chinese people, I really don't agree to 远大's target to the "Speed" as we know faster but worse.
