Time for the latest Kickstarter picks for Archinect's curated Kickstarter page. Check out what sorts of crowdfunding projects made it onto this month's list...
Organic Growth. Summer Pavilion on Governors Island 2015
Izaskun Chinchilla Architects was chosen as one of the winners in the 2015 ‘City of Dreams’ Pavilion competition to have their proposal "Organic Growth" constructed on Governors Island, NY. Dubbed by the firm as "NY's biggest bike bouquet", the proposed 95 sq.m. canopy puts space-filling waste materials to crafty use.
Another winning City of Dreams Pavilion design by BanG Studios. All the materials in the Billion Oyster Pavilion would be used by the New York Harbor School to rebuild oyster habitats in NY's waterways.
2015 CGarchitect Visualization Conference
CGarchitect.com/CGSchool's Jeff Mottle and CGSchool business partner Brian Zajac teamed up to create the first annual CGarchitect 3D Architectural Visualization Conference. Out of an ambitious funding goal of $310,000, over $95,000 has been amassed so far.
Build a PopUP Forest in Times Square, NYC
The PopUP Forest will temporarily transform Times Square into, that's right, a living green forest in the middle of the concrete jungle that is NYC. The campaign's critical initial $25,000 goal is nearly there.
The History of L.A. Graffiti Art Volume Two - 1989 to 1994
Following Volume One's premiere at MOCA back in 2006, two graffiti artists wanted to continue sharing a piece of documented L.A. Graffiti Art Movement history during the late '80s and the early '90s. Unfortunately, full funding didn't come through, but the duo remains optimistic in securing publication funds in the future.
You know you want one of these 3D-printed mini dioramas.
The Bunker "Hotel" (survivalist training camp)
Inspired by the played-out doomsday scenario, the Bunker Hotel is a public "survivalist training camp" bunker facility that would educate visitors in sustainable off-grid living -- or just provide a "'different' kind of vacation".
Indiegogo:
Transform The Disadvantaged Into Self-Sufficiency
"I love paying my mortgage!", said no one ever. Although the campaign wasn't funded, this shipping-container modular living concept is a reminder of the ongoing struggle to provide affordable, greener housing for all.
