This is the new age of the engineer. This is your time – your moment in the limelight. Never has there been a moment where people are so aware of how fragile the planet is.'

math is for nerds
describing his fellow professionals as ‘arrogant, egotistical, prima donnas, pain in the arses, and absolute bastards’
Sounds like he knows what he's talking about.
‘I have a dream of a world ... where engineers lead the charge.
Oops. Maybe not.
Didn't he use to work for Norman Foster?
Olaf - yes, and while there he designed the Gherkin and glass testicle...
I can't stop laughing at this. Like, he must have been drunk, or at least tipsy, yes?
...with their dazzling shirts, their big watches, and their big pointy shiny erections...
It's hilarious!
I do wear a nice Michael Graves watch, I guess it's kinda big relative to my fairly narrow wrist. I've never worn a bedazzled shirt...
"...[engineers] need to tell the architects, when they try to call the shots, to sod off..."
...Or we can work together?
Oh wait, nevermind, that's a crazy idea.
Nice, Schoon. And you're right, totally crazy to think that collaboration could be a thing. I'm certain it's never, ever happened before.
Does Norman Foster wear an enormous watch?
That's a good question Donna and Google could not help me. Foster's career changed according to the recent documentary about him when Bucky Fuller asked 'how much does your building weigh?'. Sounds like an engineering question, good thing Ove Arup's founding philosophy is based in working together with the architect. I bet Foster's watch is NOT enormous.
Not clear to me, but is he including himself in the "fellow professionals" or just "celebrity architects" from what i have seen it seemed more like profession at large was criticized, wanting to elevate engineers...?
