City Realty made the rendering above, which they say gives us an idea of what the city will look like in 2018 based on projections for buildings currently being planned or already in construction: "New York City skyline circa 2018 2,500 feet above Central Park. Image features upcoming supertall skyscrapers such as One Vanderbilt, 53W53, 432 Park Avenue, 225 West 57th, and 111 West 57th Street are completed." — gothamist.com

Looks like it's time to beef up the seismic codes.
I'd be more worried about heavy winds. Because that will definitely happen. Even if engineered to be safe it's not comfy to ride out a hurricane in a high rise. Doesn't matter much if offices sway a bit during a storm (most people go home) but it's a big problem for residences.
I was in the observation level of the ICC in Hong Kong on a particularly windy day - it felt like being on a large boat rolling on swells. Very disorienting. I can't imagine how the office workers handle that. I guess most are on lower floors.
Though the Indian Point nuclear plant was built on a likely active fault. Oops.
Somebody has to write the new "Rear View."
