This post is brought to you by Dwell Media.
Dwell has big plans for its first time in the Big Apple on October 9-11. Unlike your standard design trade show, Dwell on Design NY is your chance to engage with some of today's most influential architects, commercial designers, scholars, and 5,000 of your fellow design-savvy attendees. If you'll be in New York that weekend and haven't registered yet, get your tickets now!
The Dwell on Design event schedule features a multitude of design installations and onstage discussions from which both local New Yorkers and the international architecture and design community can benefit. For starters, architect Daniel Libeskind will give his Thursday night keynote address, where he will share his history and discuss works like the master plan for the rebuilt World Trade Center site in New York and the Jewish museums in Berlin, Copenhagen, and San Francisco.
Panels highlight not only the never-ending discussion on the future of design but also relevant present-day topics and issues regarding contract design, public space, urban infrastructure, and more.
Speakers include David Rockwell, Pentagram partner Michael Bierut and Snøhetta director Claire Fellman, Clive Wilkinson on The New Malleable Office, SHoP Architects' Vishaan Chakrabarti and WXY's Claire Weisz on Reimagining New York City's Skyline, and Barry Svigal of Svigal + Partners, who designed the new Sandy Hook Elementary School. Architecture for Humanity will also host its Design Like You Give a Damn: LIVE! conference.
Another plus is that you can earn AIA, ASID, and other CEU course credits!
And since this is a Dwell event, attendees can get some Dwell-style eye candy on the Manhattan Home Tours for a look at some of the neighborhood's most dapper residential design.
