These awards are becoming more and more watered down / political. I would guess Rose himself is befuddled that he could get an award even though his career is not expressly devoted to architecture. I can see Goldberger, or a media person who covers it exclusively, not someone who features architects every once and a while on his show.
I was thinking the same thing. Nice guy, but isn't this supposed to be about the built environment? Maybe there's a side to Charlie Rose's carreer I don't know about. Dunno.
also seems a bit of a stretch to place his interviews with architects, under the phrase "exemplary practice, scholarship, or criticism"
The difference between an architecture critic and a Charlie Rose is that the latter is seen by a much larger audience. Perhaps Rose was selected for his role as architectural ambassador ?
When he can restrain himself from "Look at how much I know !" Rose is a decent journalist.
Weakened Condition (NPR) is talking to the author of a book on narcissism, as I write . . .
i haven't watched Charlie Rose interview an architect since he had Dave Chipperfield on and just asked him over and over about Frank Gehry.
