Specifically, are "Are arch. professors necessarily interested in research, or teaching, or are they doing it because of a slow market/ lack of jobs in the profession?"

They were passionate about teaching and some of them were also practicing architects” while Janosh helpfully listed some of the "riveting opportunities that come with full time academic positions with benefits: office hours, search committees, tenure reviews, departmental politics, NAAB visits, grade appeal hearings, sexual harassment training, curriculum reviews".
Finally, courvoisier is looking for Radical Retail Precedents. Especially "as an outlet for a larger online venue".
Matthew Friesz guessed "you're talking about brick and mortar retail stores acting as an extension of their online presence...I would just look at retailers who have a strong online presence/brand identity, and how they translate that to any brick and mortar stores they may have" and jw468 suggested "Taschen is a good example, where its few retail locations elevate its image. Rizzoli Publishers as well, with its recently closed New York store. The Vitra campus is worth considering in this context….Other major brands that use this tactic include Normann Copenhagen, Svenskt Tenn, Marimekko, and Ralph Lauren".
