Congratulations Archinect's Heather Ring for her winning entry to the Metis Garden Festival. Press Release
The ALGAE Garden
By Heather Ring, landscape architect, Dr. Brenda Parker, plant scientist and Synnøve Fredericks, artist; London, United Kingdom
The ALGAE Garden celebrates the beauty and the potential source of energy of the algae through a design that underlines its diversity and meaning. This garden stands between the landscape, the artistic and the scientific world, presenting algae organized by colour and species in plastic sleeve curtains hanging from wooden frames. The algae, often considered a nuisance in the garden pond, here because an object of beauty and leads the visitor to appreciate algae as an alternative to oil and other energy sources.

Congrats Heather!
Go Heather!
Yes this is H. Congratulations Heather!
thanks guys! theres a nice symmetry -- as the first interview i did for archinect was the NIP Paysage upstarts, talking about their garden for the festival!
Congrats, Heather! It reminds me a bit of an installation I just saw at UKentucky by Liz Swanson - she put objects or bits of material in suspended glass globes with a little tag saying "Look at this - it's beautiful." Your proposal sounds similarly quiet, considered, and beautiful.
that is really cool. tres chouette even.
the metis garden is very cool place too. nice.
Beautiful idea! Is there anywhere we can see some larger images or more information? The press release is very limited.
