The sculpture, installed in the first, lowest and darkest gallery, is breathtakingly weird. The team describes the piece as resembling “a collapsed spaceship.” It’s covered with a foam coating that gives the impression of lichens or ancient, accreted sedimentary deposits.'

“a collapsed spaceship cinema”? On closer read this is more like a screening room enclosed in a skeletal cage. The Majestic, an oft used grandiose title for 1920s movie palaces or 18thC wooden sailing ships is ironic here, or in this case a pun or wishful thinking. The lattice cage must be a fun multimedia space to look out from.
