The new controversial international terminal of Wellington Aiport was officially opened by New Zealand's prime minister John Key today.
Dubbed "The Rock" and likened to a pair of pumpkins because of its shape and copper plating, the new terminal is the final stage of a $60 million development that began in 2006. Though the building was criticised by architects when plans were first unveiled, feedback had so far been positive.

Well... it is very weird looking project indeed. The interior is kinda interesting, but the exterior (and it is clearly seen on the video) definitely looks like an odd formalistic experiment. The issue of form vs. function ( http://bit.ly/aYBTSF ) played here some role for sure... Not so sure how successfully was this resolved...
yuck
Other countries get lovely swooping, colourful expressions of arrival (or depature) and we get...a rock. And the inside looks like a cave! Maybe it's supposed to be a tongue-in-cheek nod to the Hobbit or something.
*sigh*

Nice... thanks for the link, Alexander
If the whole building interior looks like this, its going to get really boring, this should just be one section only.
But i like the creativity, thinking outside the box, that's where the key to the box is, outside it! Keep it up, but don't create an eyesore with more than 50m interior that looks like this.
