Continuing to prove that architects can, indeed, live a rockstar life, Sir Norman Foster has just unveiled his Buckminster Fuller-designed Dymaxion car replica.
"The Dymaxion had the same engine and transmission as the Ford Sedan of the time," says Foster, who worked with Fuller, his design hero, from 1971 until his death 12 years later. "However, at three times the volume, with half the fuel consumption and a 50% increase in top speed, it not only did more with less, but anticipated the 'people mover' of several decades later." - Guardian

yes, but does it have side impact airbags?!
If I had the means I would have done the same thing, probably with an electric or biofuel engine/motor (maybe after having the original engine installed and driven for a while to understand the original characteristics).
Pritzker Architecture Prize–winner Norman Foster’s problems seem to be mounting. Andrea Klettner reports that the firm’s £15 million ($23.8 million) pre-tax loss has London-based 3i, which holds a 40 percent share in the business, looking for an exit strategy by shopping its interest to investment banks. Coupled with the news that the firm’s much-touted €250 million ($346 million) redesign for Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium has been canceled, Foster seems to be having a bad week already.

this may rain on his rock star parade.
I hear by nominate 18x32 for best comment of the week. Hilarious!
I've seen too many people make fun if Fuller's most outlandish concepts without understanding his full body of work or the impact he has in areas outside of architecture.
They'll get a laugh out of it, move on and speak highly of, or even copy someone who's done relatively nothing in comparison.
