It would be a mistake to assume that ineptitude or negligence is behind any snafus. Arup is highly regarded. Instead, it seems to be the very nature of showbizzy modern architecture that it entails costly fixes, during construction and after.

Half a dozen examples out of how many highly-regarded modern structures? And by the way IMPei's National Gallery is over THIRTY years old. How old are you, Mr. Felton, and does any of your body require routine maintenance to keep it looking its best?
Sheesh, WSJ. This is why I don't trust any media outlet to publish anything that isn't simplistic and sensationalist.
