Beijing's Water Cube, previously featured on Archinect, has re-opened as... a water park! The world's largest water park actually. The design of "Happy Water Park" is heavily inspired by the film Avatar.

Avatar? Really? Is that the best they could come up with?
I adore this building, and I think I love this new iteration, too!
Actually, its not too bad, considering it is a water park. The premise, however is questionable.
I read the article/watched the video, and saw nothing about Avatar as a 'heavy design influence', except as a passing, wholly unqualified comment* from the wooden commentator.
From the GM - "...we wanted to give the impression of being underwater, hence the jellyfish, coral, seaweed"
Impossible that the designers look at AQUATIC and MARINE forms for a waterpark, eh Cutestory?
Except for the porkchop in speedos, I agree with sameolddoctor that the joint looks alright.
*one movie in 3d with bioluminescence, and Cameron supercedes the natural world
From the article that is linked above:
The blue and magical environment will remind visitors of a scene from "Avatar." Alan Mahony, the general manager of the Beijing Happy Magic Watercube Waterpark says that the water park is actually designed to offer the feeling of "Avatar."
My mistake - I won't lie when I say that I quickly skimmed the article, then only listened to the Mozart-filled video.
