Called TED, BIG Architects' new 57m x 57m x 57m building resembles a gigantic sugar cube, and is meant to serve as a mixed use area for Taiwan. But there's more to the seemingly straightforward structure than meets the eye - a series of strategic hollows that have been tunneled out of the block add interest to the space and a green park that spans the entire rooftop will surely be a new favorite hangout spot for locals.

yes, surely.
They could have put a few more trees on that stupid roof.
lazy, unworkable.
whole thing amounts to an un-interrupted, unvaried, rhino "intersect" operation between a sculpted block and horizontal planes, with a little offsetting and thickening of the plane of intersection.
what kind of glazing goes between those plates?
Program, structure, plans, internal circ, entry points?
what do Taiwan's building codes say about one continuous 10 story (estimate, since there's no floors in the section) stair with variable direction and thread width, 0 landings, where do the rails go without compromising the continuity-based concept like the yokohama port, etc, etc?
like a lot of big's work. hope this isn't the start of a decline.
oh, maybe 14 or so floors. just saw you can sort of count in the render...
