Assignment description:

"The assignment in this studio deals with the development of a central, harbour front site. In connection to various new housing developments, the studio will design an ‘urban attractor’ developed around the idea of a Visitors Center for Danish Olympic Rowing. Students will play an active role in the joint development of the brief and each student will furthermore be responsible for the design of an individual building."

In approaching this project, I wanted to create a space where people would come to learn about rowing but also be able to experience getting out on the water in a small boat.  To that end, I combined exhibition and learning areas with a gym and launching point for canoes.  The design concept was to be reminiscent of a shipwreck still partially in the water.
