Formerly a space used for photoshoots, this empty shell in Manhattan’s exclusive fashion hub, the industrial Starrett-Lehigh building, was required to be re-fitted into a new office that would cater for Club Monaco’s expanding staff and showcase their new corporate image.
The existing steel framed factory windows were replicated internally to filter natural light from the perimeter offices into the heart of the space, whilst custom designed units with rolling ladders lined the rear wall to provide flexible, concealed storage. As the budget would not facilitate the client’s desire for antique furniture and workstations, Modo custom designed retro-style timber workstations; the resultant saving allowing for the introduction of feature antique polished brass light fittings, reclaimed from old Indian cruise ships, to be fitted to each desk.
Adhering to a tight budget, Modo delivered an inspiring fitout that balanced the emerging antique, Ralph Lauren style of Club Monaco with their more minimal and modernist past, all whilst staying within the parameters of their company-wide design guidelines.
