The project scope was for a full gut-out renovation of a newly built apartment with private rooftop terrace in the affluent heart of Brooklyn, Fort Greene. Taking into account the client’s penchant for understated, simple, monochromatic and modernist style, the proposed design incorporated this into flexible living spaces that responded to the particular needs of the client.
Custom lacquered timber millwork defined a space that allowed for the musician client to practice and store their instruments, whilst concealing a TV and entertainment equipment, along with a Murphy bed that provided the flexibility of a guest bedroom.
As a result of the client’s budget and priorities at that time, the proposal was amended to allow for construction to occur in stages, with the initial stage of the 2 bathrooms and kitchen having been completed in January 2012.
