A world class education and family destination celebrating the natural environment and our relationship to animals and other living things. The project includes construction of a main Education building, a site introductory building called the “Outpost”, as well as outdoor exhibit areas, expanded picnic areas, restroom facilities, grassland and habitat restoration, drainage improvements and enhanced pedestrian pathways and trails. A 26.4 acre gentle sloping site that overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Catalina Island.
The proposed project would occupy approximately 14 acres of the total 26.4 acre City owned coastal property known as Lower Point Vicente. The project area is vegetated with scrub, grasses and previously farmed areas, and defined by steep coastal and canyon bluffs along the western site boundary, residential to the north, Palos Verdes Drive to the east and a lighthouse to the south.
