ALFONSO MARINA FLAGSHIP STORE

The project originated from the commission to revitalize the iconic brand's showroom in Mexico City. The intervened area encompasses an external volume, functioning as an entry point to other underground spaces. The brand's rich history and meticulous attention to detail inspired the creation of a "craftsmanship vault" serving as the gateway to a series of thresholds and transitional areas. These elements come together to craft a sensory experience encompassing light, textures, and scales, allowing visitors to disconnect from the outside world and gradually discover Alfonso Marina's iconic pieces.

The stone façade acts as a canvas capturing the ever-changing interplay of light and shadows—a temple of craftsmanship and tradition. Upon entering the building, a staircase is embraced by a wooden ceiling and walls, establishing a warm rhythm. The path extending into the project reinforces the concept of separation, enveloping visitors in shadow and contrasting dark materiality with accents and reflections of light, creating anticipation for the main gallery encounter.

The meandering darkness transitions into the Museum space, where volumes and voids generate layers of light, framing niches or creating openings in other areas. The strategic use of angled perspectives contributes to the creation of an ever-changing visual experience. The design workshop, the initial space within the Museum, offers a view of the main gallery. Progressing further, the main gallery space is segmented into different platforms and landings, showcasing the main exhibit pieces. Intersecting walls and ceilings generate voids acting as light wells, bathing the spaces from above. A staircase and bridge serve as articulating elements for secondary spaces, dedicated to a more traditional exhibition format.

The intentional use of light and materials, coupled with meticulously designed visual and wayfinding elements, establishes a unique symbiosis with the exhibited pieces—a total equilibrium that exemplifies the craftsmanship of creating fine furniture and sensory environments.
