Absorbing the hills of Douro’s river as morphological context, this project falls within the campus and the public domain - as a complement to the adjacent programs, the Cultural Center houses auditoriums, exhibitions gallery, bar & terrace, archives, ateliers, and reading spaces.
With Oporto´s Faculty of Architecture (Álvaro Siza) as background (live element during day and night) the Center appears paired, complementing the public space, and fortifying the cultural nucleus present in the academic world of Oporto’s City.
Referenced by the National Library of Paris, this building seeks to communicate with the escarpment where it lies - through its intelligibility (in terms of usage and function) and its organic and changeable skin.
