Along Sunset Boulevard in the Pacific Palisades is a new fire-station that would replace the existing fire-station. The main floor plan features bunk-rooms, the common area, classrooms, a fitness center and a wilderness welcome center on the open roof. The primary structure is a post and beam steel structure with a space-frame holding the roof above. The main level is surrounded primary by glass to allow natural sunlight into the building. The roof is placed appropriately over to add shade. The roof is also influenced by both wind and sun direction. Openings in the roof allow hikers to travel into the public roof space and back onto their trail.
