The 5,000SF SciQuarium expansion, now known as the Wiseman Aquarium, showcases 17 new exhibits for aquatic life. While the focus of this addition is biological diversity and the protection of ocean life, different habitats are highlighted throughout. A kelp forest, mangrove swamp and Pacific reef are a few exhibits where garden eels, seahorses, lionfish and jellyfish are showcased.
Innovative technology is interspersed throughout the addition to provide interactive games and learning experiences for visitors with large screens and hidden projectors.
The design team, consultants, and construction crews paid close attention to the needs of the animals near the addition, and took great care during construction not to disturb creatures that were sensitive to loud noises and vibrations.
The new addition opened to a record-breaking weekend for the Greensboro Science Center in March of 2017.
