Greensboro
Lindsey Architecture was the Project Architect and Manager in 2010 for a 15,000sf Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting Facility that was funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, at the Piedmont Triad International Airport. The tight deadline to meet the requirements for this funding required the design team to have a bid package ready in within six weeks, which they accomplished as a result of efficient team work. The four apparatus bay facility also includes a new Command Center, training facilities, bunk rooms, and enough room to host coordinated city, county, and state disaster training. Even though the owner is not striving for a LEED certification, the building was designed using many sustainable practices including reflective roofs and pavement, energy efficient HVAC and electrical systems, interior finish materials, and an emphasis on using regional materials.
